about

Hymnody in America - EP Version

tenor Nathan Granner and Brad Cox study congregational singing from the 1700's to the 1900's. This album was inspired and is dedicated to Nathan's Grandmother who passed away in 2007.

In full version, Hymnody in America is an exploration of the original versions of these hymns and how they impacted their congregations. Brad Cox arranged the hymns so that they sound fresh and different, in that they can be made new while still retaining that original hymn sound.

Please know that these songs are being released not as the full version, but as a preliminary album to help complete the full version. Your support will help complete this project...which contains these great tunes..

New Britain (the original Amazing Grace), In the Garden, Down by the Riverside, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, How Great Thou Art, Shall We Gather at the River and more.

Track Name: Balm in Gilead
There is a balm in Gilead
To make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the sin-sick soul.
Some times I feel discouraged,
And think my work’s in vain,
But then the Holy Spirit
Revives my soul again.
(Chorus)
If you can’t preach like Peter,
If you can’t pray like Paul,
Just tell the love of Jesus,
And say He died for all.
Track Name: I Saw the Light - ep
I Saw the Light – 1948 -Hank Williams Sr.

I wandered so aimless life filled with sin
I wouldn't let my dear saviour in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

CHORUS
I saw the light I saw the light
No more darkness no more night
Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

Just like a blind man I wandered along
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

CHORUS
I was a fool to wander astray
Straight is the gate and narrow the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the Lord I saw the light.
