about

Operatic tenor, Nathan Granner is recognized throughout the world as a generative, solo and collaborative artist and as one of The American Tenors, from the Odyssey/Sony Masterworks imprint.

Granner is a uniquely gifted artist. On one hand, with leading roles such as Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte, Tamino in Magic Flute and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Granner is every bit the Operatic Tenor.
His voice is of that rare class of tenors - heroic, vulnerable, refined and unpretentious. Yet beyond this, Granner’s intense exploration of his voice has taken him from Pop to authentic Flamenco to classic Turkish and has even led him further to study throat singing with a Tibetan Monk. For some, this may seem a bit exotic, but for the artist, it is basic that one must travel a thousand miles to take one step. From these experiences and countless others the richness and luster of his voice is derived. There have been many steps.

"...Granner makes each of his numbers an event. He's blessed with a commanding personality and a rich, resonant voice... perhaps more impressive are his control and finesse, the emotional logic with which he paces his solos, the way his singing takes on fresh timbre suited to whatever character he's singing..." Alan Scherstuhl, The Pitch Weekly, March 10, 2009

In the collaboration with many artists and producers through the medium of Opera, Concerts, Theater and Performance Installation, Nathan has received critical acclaim from The Boston Globe, The London Times, The New York Times, Opera News, Washington Post, and USA Today among others. Some notable appearances have been at the Diaghilev Seasons Festival in Perm, Russia, the National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Irish Radio Orchestra, Opera Theatre Saint Louis, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Wolf Trap Opera, Opera Tampa, Tulsa Opera and the Handel/Haydn Oratorio Society.

Throughout his career, Granner has developed long-lasting friendships and partnerships. He continues to work wirh guitarist - Beau Bledsoe, having released two classical albums as well as having toured the world with him. Granner has collaborated many times with Brad Cox premiering a number of Cox's original compositions. He has also worked extensively with award winning dancer/choreographer Jennifer Owen, with Civic Artist, Barnaby Evans' WaterFire - performing and helping coordinate their first large scale performance on the Country Club Plaza.

Track Name: Il Mio Tesoro
Il mio tesoro, Don Octavio's aria from Don Giovanni

Il mio tesoro intanto Meantime go and
andate a consolar, console my dearest one,
E del bel ciglio il pianto and seek to dry the tears
cercate di asciugar. from her lovely eyes.
Ditele che i suoi torti Tell her that I have gone
a vendicar io vado; to avenge her wrongs,
Che sol di stragi e morti and will return only as the messenger
nunzio vogl'io tornar. of punishment and death.

Track Name: É Lucevan le stelle - (ala flamenco)
E lucevan le stelle
ed olezza va la terr,
stridea luscio dell'orto
eun passo svorava la rena...

Entrava ella fragrante,
Mi cadea fra le braccia

O dolci brezze,
O languide carezze,
M'entrio fremente
le belle forme discogliea dai vele!

Svani per sempre sogno mio d'amore..
L'ora é fuggita...

E muoio disperato
E non ho amato mai tanto la vita!
